Requirements for Hiring Household Employees:
- Apply for an employer identification number (EIN)
- Determine if the employee is eligible to work in the United States
- Employment tax payments are required if:
- Total cash wages paid exceeds the limit set by the IRS during that calendar quarter to household employees for household work.
- Wages paid to your spouse, your children under the age of 21 or your parents are not included.
- Total cash wages paid exceeds the limit set by the IRS during that calendar quarter to household employees for household work.
