Nanny Payroll

Did you know that if you are hiring a nanny, you may be required to withhold and pay payroll taxes?

Baby sitters, nannies, domestic workers, maids, housekeepers, personal drivers, etc. are all examples of household employees.

Requirements for Hiring Household Employees:

  • Apply for an employer identification number (EIN)
  • Determine if the employee is eligible to work in the United States
  • Employment tax payments are required if:
    • Total cash wages paid exceeds the limit set by the IRS during that calendar quarter to household employees for household work.
